Position Title: School Lunch Director (12 Month position)(Competitive Civil Service Title)Provisional appointment pending successful rating on Civil Service Exam. Exam date TBD. Effective Date: October 2023 General Statement of Duties: Plans, directs and administers the school lunch program for a large school district. This includes coordination with community partners and active participation on the District’s Wellness Committee. Distinguishing Features of the Class: This administrative position involves carrying out policies and establishing procedures for the efficient and economical operation of the program. Work is performed under the direction of the Deputy Superintendent for Business and Human Resources with leeway allowed for the use of independent judgement. Supervision is exercised over the work of the Assistant Director of School Lunch, school lunch supervisors, cook managers, and other school lunch program personnel. Full Performance Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics: Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of nutrition and their application to the health of children; thorough knowledge of all phases of the school lunch program; thorough knowledge of office management, personnel selection and training; good knowledge of school business procedures; ability to develop effective training; supervisory techniques, personnel relations and community relations; ability to express ideas clearly and to write reports effectively; initiative; neat appearance; tact and good judgement; courtesy, resourcefulness; good physical condition. Complete knowledge and strict adherence to Federal, State and local regulations governing the handling, preparation, storing and serving of food. Minimum Qualifications:Graduation from a regionally accredited college or NYS registered college or university with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in food, nutrition, dietetics or a closely related field, and two years satisfactory experience in institution management, hotel administration or restaurant management, involving large-quantity food service.Graduation from high school and ten years satisfactory experience on institution management, hotel administration or restaurant management, involving large-quantity food service.Apply on OLAS
