DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:This position is responsible for budget development and long-range financial planning. Maintains supervision of business office account clerks and assistant tax collector. This position involves important account keeping work including responsibility for the frequent exercise of independent judgement in planning and managing complex accounting, checking and clerical activities. This annually appointed position reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Business and the Board of Education.FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL:Thorough knowledge of school district accounting procedures; Ability to keep current regarding all pertinent education and local finance laws, Commissioner's Regulations, and directives of the Comptroller of the State of New York; proven ability to work independently, perform assigned tasks timely, accurately, and thoroughly. Highly skilled in presenting written and oral comments and opinions clearly and concisely; solutions problems with integrity and tact. Possess strong technical skills, including excel and word. Experience with nVision preferred.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:(a) Graduation from recognized college or university with a Bachelor's in Business Administration, Accounting or equivalent and 3-5 years' experience as a school district or municipal treasurer; OR(b) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associate's degree and 5+ years of accounting, financial administration, bookkeeping and auditing in a school district or municipal setting; OR(c) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b).
