KLSD is looking for a thoughtful and knowledgeable educator to serve in the probationary position of Art Teacher at John Jay Middle School beginning September 1, 2026. Location: John Jay Middle School Hours: Full-time (10 month) Anticipated Start Date: September 1, 2026 Salary: $64,276 - $152,199 as per the KLDTA contract Qualifications: Possess a current NYS K-12 Art Certification Responsibilities: Teaches knowledge and skills in many aspects of art – creating and art history. Fosters a positive and inclusive classroom environment that prioritizes the social and emotional well-being of students and nurtures a sense of belonging. Familiar with i-Movie, Photoshop and other technology-driven art programs. Ability and willingness to connect and collaborate effectively with teachers of other subjects to identify the connections art has to a wide variety of disciplines. Knowledge of the design process and its application. Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Actively participates in a professional learning community (PLC), engaging in ongoing, collaborative professional learning to refine and enhance instructional practice. Works with colleagues to analyze student needs, share best practices, and implement research-based strategies that improve student outcomes.
