KLSD is seeking a thoughtful and knowledgeable educator to serve in a part-time or full-time probationary position of Latin Teacher beginning September 1, 2026. Location: John Jay High School and John Jay Middle School Hours: 10-month, Flexible Part-time (0.6 FTE) to Full-time (1.0 FTE) position Anticipated Start Date: September 1, 2026 Salary and Benefits: Full-time: $64,276 - $152,199 as per the KLDTA contract Part-time position: same salary as above but pro-rated based on FTE amount Qualifications: NYS Certification in Latin (7-12). Responsibilities: Demonstrate strong skills in teaching students at all levels of Latin. Use technology and multimedia resources to enhance students’ learning. Demonstrate strong skills in developing curriculum and instruction. Engage students in authentic and meaningful activities within an immersive language experience. Foster a positive and inclusive environment that respects the diversity of students. Provide feedback and support to students to help them achieve their academic goals, while maintaining high expectations for all students. Collaborate with colleagues and seek feedback to improve teaching practices. Actively participates in a professional learning community (PLC), engaging in ongoing, collaborative professional learning to refine and enhance instructional practice. Works with colleagues to analyze student data, share best practices, and implement research-based strategies that improve student outcomes.
