KLSD is looking for a thoughtful and knowledgeable educator to serve in the probationary position of Math Teacher at John Jay High School beginning September 1, 2026. Qualifications & Responsibilities: Possess a current NYS Math 7-12 Certification. Understand and know how to implement instruction aligned with the NYS Numeracy Briefs, emphasizing conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, productive struggle, and student discourse. Regularly use student data to inform instruction, monitor progress, and adjust practices. Demonstrate understanding of MTSS within the math classroom, including differentiated Tier 1 & 2 instruction and targeted supports. Have experience in designing and facilitating project-based learning or performance-based experiences aligned to the mathematical practices. Understand how to apply restorative practices to foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture. Regularly work in partnership with families to support student growth. Actively participates in a professional learning community (PLC), engaging in ongoing, collaborative professional learning to refine and enhance instructional practice. Works with colleagues to analyze student data, share best practices, and implement research-based strategies that improve student outcomes. Anticipated Start Date: September 1, 2026 Hours: Full-Time, (10 month) Salary and Benefits: $64,276 - $152,199 as per the KLDTA contract
