Hours: Full-time, Temporary, 7-hour day Anticipated Start Date: April 7, 2026, through June 30, 2026 Qualifications: Possess a current NYS certification in Biology Grades 7-12. Extension for General Sciences and additional 7-12 science certifications are highly desirable. Responsibilities: Experience in Scientific Research and/or instructing in a secondary Science Research program. Credentialed to work with the UAlbany Science Research in the High School Program Ability to mentor students through authentic research and prepare them for local, regional, and national competitions. Assist in organizing research symposia. Knowledge of NYS Science Learning Standards. Ability to teach Pre-AP Biology aligned to the NYS Science Learning Standards using inquiry-based and evidence-driven instructional practices. Experience with project-based learning and supporting students in developing evidence-based scientific claims. Ability to differentiate instruction and use varied assessment strategies. Understanding of the NYS Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education Framework. Reflective practitioner who collaborates effectively within a PLC structure. Salary: Long-term substitute teachers work 30 days or more but less than five months and are compensated $110/day for the first 30 days; on the 31 st day (assuming the prior 30 days were consecutive workdays) the daily rate is increased to $317.42, retroactive to the first day of the assignment.
