John Jay Middle School seeks a dynamic and visionary Assistant Principal to lead and enhance our school culture by fostering inquiry, global engagement, and academic excellence. The ideal candidate will share experiences of collaboration, driving instructional innovation, and championing practices to empower all students as critical thinkers and compassionate leaders. Knowledge and experience with practices like International Baccalaureate (IB) and Professional Learning Communities (PLCS) are preferred but not essential. Location: John Jay Middle School Anticipated Start Date: July 1, 2025 Salary & Benefits: $162,000-170,000 The successful candidate will: Have strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills; Demonstrate an adaptable and reflective mindset leaning toward improvement and innovation; Have a commitment to overall educational excellence for students and faculty; Demonstrate a history of advancing job-embedded professional learning; Have strong working knowledge of special education programming; Have a background in sustainability and be able to inspire responsible global citizenship; Work collaboratively with staff, students, parents and JJMS community. Responsibilities: Lead department and grade level collaborative work to enhance instructional effectiveness and improve student learning; Develop and implement experiences tied to the social-emotional development and empowerment of students both inside and outside the classroom; Lead and supervise experiences with adolescents around community and belonging; Supervise students and implement student management procedures including discipline and attendance; Supervise and evaluate staff as assigned; Assist in supervision of daily and special events, including those outside the school day; Plan for and oversee grade level, and end-of-year events; Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.
