RESTORATIVE PRACTICES AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST(TOSA) JOB DESCRIPTIONMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES The Restorative Practices and Family Engagement Specialist (RPFES) will work collaboratively with the elementary principals, counseling and paraprofessional staff to support staff and students using a multi-tiered system of supports with restorative practice. The RPFES will use prevention practices by reaffirming relationships through SEL understanding and skills that promote and strengthen a sense of belonging and ownership. The RPFES will use data driven practices to target behaviors and lead stakeholders through research based interventions to improve social and academic engagement. The RPFES will empower parents to become active partners in the education of their children. This key position will improve communication between the school and the students' families, promote parent engagement in their children's education and encourage greater community involvement in the school. The RPFES will be responsible for working directly with individual families as well as serving the entire school community. Finally, the RPFES will support interventions by rebuilding relationships to reintegrate students from suspension and provide resources for behavioral concerns. DUTIES Restorative PracticesSupport teachers in restorative practices implementation; including modeling, use of affective statements, affective questioning, impromptu conferences and restorative circles Offer ongoing consultation, coaching, technical support and professional learning to staff on restorative practices Conduct and model peer mediations Provide resources for behavioral support; including the development of support plans, parent communication, building of SEL and restorative practice practices for support staff and data collection/analysis Work with families using a restorative approach Work to connect district students with community partners to support student needsIntegrate restorative practices by centering diverse cultural perspectives, fostering inclusive dialogue, and addressing the unique needs and experiences of all students to promote healing and equity.Family EngagementConsult and collaborate with teachers, counselors, social workers and psychologists and parents/guardians/caregivers to support student academic and social successAssist parents/guardians/caregivers with navigating the complex school and community processes to increase participation in the academic program and community support structures Working with the school team to identify students/families who may need/benefit from additional supports Home visits to create and support intervention plans to engage students and families in school Counseling with students and parents/guardians/caregivers on family goals and family intervention plansServe as an advocate for students and families and as a liaison between families and appropriate community agenciesEngage marginalized families by honoring their diverse cultural backgrounds, fostering open communication and creating collaborative opportunities to reflect and respect their unique values and traditions. Evaluation of the position will be conducted by the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services.School Psychologist, Social Worker or Special Education certification preferred.
