SCHOOL BUSINESS EXECUTIVE JOB DESCRIPTION MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIESThe business administrator is responsible for the administration of the business and financial affairs for the district, including: management and supervision of business office personnel; administration of buildings and grounds, transportation and school food service programs; budgeting; accounting and reporting; financial data processing; purchasing and supply management; insurance and other related programs.DUTIESPlans, directs and coordinates: construction or renovation projects, operations of school cafeterias, maintenance and custodial services and transportation services.Serves as purchasing agent, directing the purchasing and accounting activities of the school system.Prepares the school district budget for submission to the Board of Education.Assists with promoting annual budget to the public.Supervises the preparation of monthly financial statements and cost reports.Directs the approval, audit and certification of all claims against the Board of Education for payrolls, goods and services.Manages the school district insurance programs.Supervises the preparation and submission of financial and statistical reports as required by local, state and federal agencies.Responsible for developing and maintaining effective office management practices relative to personnel, data processing and recordkeeping.Participates in collective bargaining with all bargaining units.Serves as Clerk of the Board, census enumerator and records access and management officer.Performs such additional duties as may be delegated by the Superintendent of Schools.AUTHORITYThe business executive reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools, has a staff relationship with district administrators and a line relationship with members of the division he/she leads.
