*** IN ADDITION TO APPLYING ON OLAS, TO COMPLETE THE APPLICATION, APPLICANTS MUST VISIT - Jericho UFSD/Departments/Human Resources/Job Openings ( https://www.jerichoschools.org/departments/human-resources/job-openings ) PAGE TO COMPLETE THEIR APPLICATION *** Position Summary The Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources, Compliance, Safety and Policy serves as a senior member of the Superintendent's Cabinet and serves as the district's Chief People Officer, leading the full people lifecycle for staff: welcoming and onboarding them to the organization, developing them, supporting their wellness and engagement, and managing their transition out of the district. The position oversees human resources, regulatory compliance, board policies, school safety and security, recruitment, employee and labor relations, certification, and civil service. Reports To Superintendent of Schools Supervises Building principals (as assigned by the Superintendent) Human Resources and Personnel staff Compliance and Administrative Training District Safety personnel (as assigned) Essential Duties and Responsibilities The People Lifecycle (Chief People Officer) Serve as the district's Chief People Officer, leading a coherent, welcoming experience across the full people lifecycle for staff and student families. Onboarding: Design and oversee onboarding and orientation for new employees ensuring a welcoming, well-supported entry into the district community. Development: Lead administrative and employee growth through compliance training, Wellness and Engagement: Develop and oversee staff wellness, engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives that foster a healthy, supportive organizational culture. Transition and Exit: Manage offboarding and exit processes for departing employees, including exit interviews, knowledge transfer, and separation logistics, and support smooth transitions for students and families leaving the district. Human Resources and Talent Coordinate the recruitment, hiring, and supervision of all employees. Establish salary, benefits, and responsibilities for all new employees. Supervise all salary re-classifications and evaluate course requests from staff for salary-adjustment purposes. Monitor employee attendance. Supervise all unemployment claims. Certification and Civil Service Supervise the certification process for all instructional employees. Follow all Nassau County Civil Service requirements for all non-instructional employees. Labor Relations and Negotiations Coordinate the negotiation and maintenance of all employee labor agreements. Serve on the district negotiations team. Serve as the Superintendent's designee at the appropriate stage of the grievance procedure for all bargaining units. Conduct Superintendent's Hearings. Serve as liaison to the district's legal counsel. Employee Supervision and Evaluation Monitor APPR compliance and development. Maintain records of professional development and salary advancement. Administrative Compliance and Training Develop, oversee implementation and monitor annual compliance training for districtwide staff. Maintain records of staff compliance training. Policy and Regulatory Compliance Lead the development, review, and maintenance of Board of Education policies and administrative regulations. Coordinate and monitor all local, state, and federal compliance training. Serve as the district's Title IX and ADA Compliance Officer. Serve as the district's Right To Know Compliance Officer. Serve as the district's Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) Coordinator. Review and respond to unresolved complaints from parents or other members of the community. Review district communications and public information, including publications, newsletters, and news releases. Ensure district compliance with applicable employment and education law. School Safety and Security Serve as the district's Safety Officer. Supervise the District Safety Committee and write the annual school district safety plan. Conduct the safety and training audit to update the district's Workplace Violence Prevention Plan. Coordinate emergency preparedness and districtwide security protocols. Board and Community Relations Attend all Board of Education meetings and prepare reports as requested by the Superintendent. Represent the district at meetings, committees, and public forums as assigned. Qualifications Required : New York State School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA) certification; Master's degree in Educational Leadership, School Administration, Human Resources, Public Administration, or a related field; minimum of five years of successful administrative experience; demonstrated knowledge of New York State Education Department regulations and applicable employment law. Preferred : Central office administrative experience; experience in collective bargaining environments and public-sector administration; experience with certification, civil service, and Board policy systems; relevant human-resources credential. Terms of Employment Twelve-month administrative position. Salary and benefits in accordance with Board of Education policy and contractual agreements. Performance evaluated annually by the Superintendent of Schools.
