Assistant Superintendent of SchoolsFull Time (12-month position)Beginning July 1, 2024 The Island Park UFSD is seeking a dynamic and experienced educational leader to join our team as the Assistant Superintendent of Schools. This position plays a crucial role and provides leadership in curriculum, instruction, and assessment ensuring equitable outcomes for all students. The position works closely with the Superintendent of Schools to implement the school district’s Strategic Plan and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities:Assist the Superintendent in the strategic planning and implementation of educational programs.Provide leadership and oversight for the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional programs to ensure alignment with district goals and state standards.Supervise and support school principals and other administrative staff, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented culture.Oversee professional development initiatives aligned to the school district’s goals and Strategic Plan.Manage and allocate resources effectively to support instructional programs and student achievement.Collaborate with stakeholders, including parents, community members, and district staff, to promote student success and engagement.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and policies.Lead initiatives to enhance equity and access to quality education for all students.Conduct evaluations of staff performance and provide constructive feedback to promote professional growth.Qualifications:A minimum of five years of successful experience in educational administration, including experience as a principal, department chair, or central office administrator.Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex projects and initiatives.Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional best practices, and assessment in reading and mathematics.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the school community. Proven track record of fostering positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members.Commitment to integrity, leadership, student achievement, and teamwork.Capacity with the use of technology as an instructional and administrative tool, including the interpretation of data.Commitment to emotional and physical growth of all children and an understanding of the critical partnership with parents and community members.Proven ability to develop and deliver programming that drives improved academic performance for all student populations; knows effective practice for differentiating instruction.Strong knowledge of high-quality instructional practices and the ability to lead others to implement these practices consistently across classrooms and school sites.Deep knowledge of pedagogy and a proven track record of using data to drive results.Proven ability to serve as a coach and mentor, helping staff to develop the skills needed at sustainably high levels.Knowledge of the Commissioner’s Regulations and the Laws of New York State as they relate to curriculum, instruction, assessment, student discipline, and human resources.Serves as a member of the District’s Leadership Team and represents the District as required.Performs additional duties delegated by the Superintendent of Schools. Candidates must hold valid New York State certification as a School District Leader (SDL) or a School District Administrator (SDA). EEO
