Irvington Union Free School District has an anticipated opening for a Full-Time Probationary Art Teacher (grades 4-8). Responsibilities: Prepares and provides exemplary lessons to all students Works collaboratively with colleagues Assesses the progress of all students and adjusts instruction to meet individual needs Organizes the classroom learning resources displays to encourage a positive learning environment Motivates students with engaging and appropriate lessons Applies fair and ethical grading practices Provides timely feedback to students from assessments and assignments Provides for assessment and recording of student development Prepares for and attends parent meetings Remains current with curricular changes and developments Organizes and participates in school events beyond the school day as needed Collaborates with other professionals such as school social worker, school psychologist and special education teachers to provide the best possible program for students Participates in ongoing professional development Provides for the differentiation of student’s diverse learning needs Manages student behavior in the classroom and school building/grounds and applies student code of conduct consequences Meets with parents to provide information regarding student progress Participates in school wide events and encourages student participation in events Participates in grade department meetings and building level meetings as needed Other duties as assigned Other Qualifications: Prioritizes responsibilities and exhibits a high level of organization Demonstrates excellent decision-making skills Exhibits positive demeanor, sense of humor and compassion Demonstrates reflective practice and continuous improvement Demonstrates motivation and good work ethic Abides by school and District policies Exhibits excellent communication skills Exhibits excellent attendance record Demonstrates a high level of ethical behavior Must maintain NYS teacher certification
