PE/Health Teacher - 1.0 FTE Probationary - HS.5 FTE Health/.5 FTE Physical EducationResponsibilities:Teaches knowledge and skills in physical education aligned with state and District standardsWorks cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning a balanced physical education programAnalyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge and strategies of formal sports, games rhythms, and fundamentals of body movementProvides for the differentiation of student’s diverse learning needsTeaches adaptive physical education classes for special needs when requiredProvides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to insure student safetySelects and requisitions uniforms, equipment, and instructional aids; maintains required inventory recordsEstablishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly and safe environmentEvaluates each student’s growth in physical skills, knowledge, and contribution in team sportsMaintains professional competence through professional development activities provided by the district or other locationsCommunicates with parents and school counselors on student progressSupervises students in out-of-class activities as neededParticipates in curriculum developmentParticipates in faculty committees and student activitiesAttends faculty and department meetings as requiredOther duties as assigned Other Qualifications: Prioritizes responsibilities and exhibits a high level of organizationDemonstrates excellent decision-making skillsExhibits positive demeanor, sense of humor and compassionDemonstrates reflective practice and continuous improvementDemonstrates motivation and good work ethicAbides by school and District policiesExhibits excellent communication skillsExhibits excellent attendance recordDemonstrates a high level of ethical behaviorMust maintain NYS teacher certification
