Irvington UFSD is seeking a dedicated and certified Special Education Teacher with a background in English Language Arts (ELA) for a leave position from February until June. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students with diverse learning needs and will be responsible for teaching ELA courses in an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) setting and teaching one ELA self-contained class. Dual certification is preferred.Responsibilities:Plan and Deliver Engaging ELA Lessons: Develop and implement effective lesson plans that align with the New York State ELA curriculum standards, adapting instruction to meet the individual needs of students with disabilities in the ICT setting.Differentiated Instruction: Differentiate instruction to address varying learning styles and abilities within the ICT classroom, ensuring all students have access to the curriculum and the opportunity to succeed.Teaching in an ICT Classroom: Collaborate with a general education teacher to co-teach in the ICT classroom, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, managing classroom behavior, and promoting student engagement.Self-Contained Class Leadership: Lead a self-contained ELA class for students with more intensive learning needs, providing specialized instruction, accommodations, and support to help students achieve their academic goals.Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess students' progress, and use data to inform instructional decisions. Modify teaching strategies and materials as needed to ensure student growth.Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): implement IEPs for students with disabilities in accordance with state and federal regulations. Collaborate with related service providers to address students' unique needs.Parent and Guardian Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents or guardians, providing updates on student progress and addressing any concerns or questions.Collaborative Teamwork: Work collaboratively with colleagues, special education support staff, and school leadership to support the overall success of students and the school community.
