ANTICIPATED OPENING: SCHOOL YEAR 2026 - 2027 Elementary Special Education Teacher – Special Class Islip School District * Must hold a valid NYS Certification in the following: Students with Disabilities 1-6 Students with Disabilities B-2 * NYS Childhood Education K-6 Certification is recommended *Bilingual preferred The Islip Public Schools is looking for a dynamic, innovative and student-centered educator to serve in the position of Elementary Special Education Teacher – Special Class. ? Anticipated 2026-27 Probationary position for a Special Education Teacher who is certified to teach at the elementary level. ? Develops and facilitates experiences that are engaging, relevant, collaborative and align with the school district vision and goals. ? Promotes a positive classroom culture sensitive to students developmental and individual needs. ? Modifies and differentiates instruction based on student learning styles. ? Experience with Fountas and Pinnell Reading assessments, Fundations, the reading/writing workshop model and its instructional components and enVisions math. ? Understanding of a Response to Intervention MTSS framework ? Ability to gather and analyze student data to inform instruction ? Ability to work with students of all diverse academic abilities, including but not limited to special education and ENL students ? Familiar with implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans ?
