Robotics Club AdvisorIslip High SchoolThe Islip Union Free School District is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Robotics Club Advisor to guide and mentor high school students as they engage in robotics projects, competitions, and STEM-related activities. The advisor will play a pivotal role in fostering creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork among club members, helping them to develop technical skills in programming, engineering, and design. This club will meet one hour per week from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. starting in November.Key Responsibilities: Lead and organize weekly robotics club meetings and activities.Mentor students in building, programming, and testing robots for competitions (e.g., FIRST Robotics, VEX Robotics, etc.).Provide guidance on robot design, coding, and troubleshooting technical issues.Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment that encourages student innovation.Coordinate participation in regional competitions, including overseeing travel and logistics.Manage club resources, including robotics equipment and tools.Communicate with parents, administrators, and sponsors regarding club activities and needs.Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (preferred, but not required).Strong understanding of robotics, engineering, and/or computer programming (experience with platforms like Arduino, VEX Robotics, or similar).Experience working with high school students in an educational or extracurricular setting.Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.Ability to mentor and inspire students to think critically, solve problems, and work as a team.Willingness to attend competitions and events outside of regular school hours. Preferred Skills: Familiarity with robotics competition formats (e.g., FIRST Robotics, VEX).Experience in fundraising and securing sponsorships for extracurricular activities.Passion for STEM education and promoting diversity in the field.Compensation: $1,800 Stipend Applications will be accepted through OLAS only.
