ANTICIPATED OPENING: SCHOOL YEAR 2023-2024Elementary STEAM Teachers – Grades 2-5Positions are Grant FundedThe Islip School District seeks a student-centered educator who is dedicated to professional growth and committed to the success of all students. *Must possess NYS Elementary Teacher Certification or Technology Education K-12 Duties & Responsibilities: Facilitate student design, innovation, problem solving, communicating, and collaborating.Help students apply higher-order thinking skills to open-ended problems.Demonstrate the ability to model, deliver, and craft rich student-centered learning experiences around Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.Initiate and deliver STEAM-oriented instruction through project-based learning methods.Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student learning.Develop lesson plans, unit outlines, and other instructional planning documents as needed and/or requested by supervisors and administration.Coach and collaborate with teachers on STEAM initiatives and instructional best practices in the STEAM areas.Understanding of emerging technologies and how to integrate them into instruction to inspire students' innovative mindsets.Knowledge of and experience teaching coding languages such as, but not limited to Scratch and Python.Review student classwork/homework to provide feedback.Must be well organized with strong verbal communication skills.Experience with utilizing the kidOYO platform preferred, but not required.Experience with Makerspace preferred, but not required.
