Title: Assistant School District Business Leader (NYS Certificated) or Assistant School Business Manager (Civil Service)Job Category: Administrator Job Location: District Wide Salary: Regionally Competitive Application Due Date: 6/20/25Anticipated Position Start Date: 7/1/25Days/Hours: 12 month, 8 hours per day Assists the Business Official in the discharge of the fiscal, financial, and accounting functions of a school district; does related work as required. This is a responsible financial position involving the administration of the school district budget in conformity with School Board directives and record keeping functions required for accountability and control. The employee works under the general supervision of the Business Official. Daily Duties: Supervises and directly oversees support services, such as payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax collection and purchasing including personnel evaluations.Recommends Business Office policyRecommends, writes, reviews, and maintains all Business Office procedures;Recommends and implements continuous improvements for both effectiveness and efficienciesAids in the preparation of the budget;Conducts salary reviews of all employees;Prepares financial and statistical reports;Contributes to planning including both long and short-term for physical plant and finances including ten year needs;Conducts correspondence on matters where general policy has been determined; Aids in the tracking and recording of capital projects and grants.Assists witth the review and tracking of state and federal aid.Aids the Business Official in the conduct of their office including oversight of Food Service, Building and Grounds, Transportation, and Nursing. Minimum Qualifications: NYS certification as an administrator (SDA, SBL or SDL) OR For Civil Service candidates: (A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or related field; OR (B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or related field and two (2) years of experience in accounting or business administration for a large organization. Civil Service candidates must take the Jefferson County competitive Civil Service exam when offered and place in the top three. Essential knowledge, skills, and abilities: Good knowledge of business administration; good knowledge of office practices and procedures; good knowledge of personnel and wage administration; good knowledge of budgetary practice and preparation; good knowledge of accounting and data processing application; ability to plan and supervise the work of others; ability to prepare records and reports; ability to present facts and financial data both orally and in writing; initiative; dependability; integrity; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
