Title: Teacher Assistant - Learning Lab (Hours: 9AM - 4:30 PM)Location: Initial Location - High SchoolAssignment: Learning LabDeadline: 1/20/23Start Date: 2/6/23This is a newly-created position to fulfill the requirements and needs related to emergency relief funds whose purpose is to focus on the needs of students/staff based on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. This position will expire no later than June 30, 2024 unless extended by legislative action. There is no expectation that the position will extend beyond that date. The position accrues seniority and allows for tenure granted in the candidates’ certification area. Once employed, the candidate is eligible for transfers into permanently funded positions.Minimum Qualifications:NYS Teacher Assistant Certificate with a minimum of an Associate’s DegreeThe candidate shall be eligible for New York State certification as a Teaching Assistant, and shall have a successful background of college preparatory experience.Skills and Experience includes but not limited to:Maintaining a safe learning environment within the buildings.Monitoring halls, school grounds, and pupil movement to ensure a safe and orderly environment at the assigned school/schools.Proactively working with students to support emotional and social development. Working with individual groups of pupils in an academic study hall. This will include monitoring their progress in classes, providing tutoring, and organizational support.
