Job Title: Physical Education Teacher - High SchoolLocation: FDR High SchoolEmployment Type: Leave ReplacementTentative Dates: April 6, 2026 - May 26,2026 (subject to change)Position Summary:The Hyde Park Central School District seeks a dynamic and creative Physical Education Teacher to serve students in grades 9-12. The High School Physical Education (PE) Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing a standards-based physical education program that promotes the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of students. The teacher will foster lifelong fitness habits and ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment in accordance with New York State Learning Standards for Physical Education. Key Responsibilities:Plan and deliver daily PE lessons that align with the New York State Physical Education Learning Standards (2020).Foster a safe and inclusive environment for all students, including those with disabilities and diverse learning needs.Teach motor skills, fitness concepts, cooperative games, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyle choices.Assess and document student progress using a variety of methods including formative and summative assessments.Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, and student achievement.Manage equipment and maintain a safe, orderly environment.Participate in professional development and school community events.Uphold all school and district policies, as well as New York State Education Department (NYSED) regulations.Qualifications:Required:Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or closely related field.Valid New York State teacher certification in Physical Education (K–12).Knowledge of NYS PE Learning Standards and best instructional practices for high school-aged students.Strong classroom management and organizational skills.Preferred:Master’s degree in Physical Education or related field.Experience teaching PE at the high school level.Familiarity with technology integration in PE instruction and assessment.Hyde Park Central School District’s new Presidential Perks is a special program designed to help our essential staff save money.
