Smith ElementaryEmployment Type: Full-Time, tenure trackPosition Summary:The Hyde Park Central School District is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Elementary Music Teacher to join our team for a full-time, probationary position beginning in the 2025–2026 school year. This position is shared between Violet Avenue Elementary and Ralph R. Smith Elementary schools.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in elementary general and vocal music education, and be passionate about fostering a love of music in young learners. Key Responsibilities:Planning and delivering age-appropriate general music instruction for elementary studentsLeading vocal music activities and performancesCreating a positive and inclusive classroom environmentAssessing and documenting student progressCollaborating with colleagues on interdisciplinary initiatives and school eventsParticipating in professional development and school-wide initiativesQualifications:Valid New York State Certification in Music K–12Demonstrated experience in Elementary General Music and Vocal MusicStrong classroom management skills and the ability to motivate and inspire young studentsCommitment to collaboration with school staff, parents, and the broader school communityFamiliarity with New York State Learning Standards for the ArtsWork Environment:Position involves regular travel between two elementary school buildings (travel mileage may be reimbursed according to district policy).May require lifting/moving of materials and equipment.
