This is an anticipated vacancy.The High School Assistant Principal is a 12-month, probationary administrative position responsible for supporting the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral success of students in alignment with New York State Education Department (NYSED) regulations and district priorities. The Assistant Principal collaborates with the Principal and other school leaders to lead instructional improvement, ensure a safe and inclusive school climate, supervise faculty and staff, and monitor student progress. This position also includes serving as Principal of the High School Summer School Program.Instructional LeadershipSupport the development and implementation of rigorous, standards-aligned curricula and instruction.Assist in teacher supervision and evaluation in accordance with the APPR process and NYSED guidelines.Use data to inform instructional decisions, address achievement gaps, and support RTI/MTSS models.Provide leadership for professional development planning and implementation.School Climate & Student SuccessFoster a positive, inclusive, and equitable school environment.Assist in the development and enforcement of school policies related to discipline, attendance, and student conduct.Implement restorative practices and progressive discipline aligned with the NYS Dignity for All Students Act (DASA).Support student social-emotional learning (SEL) initiatives and mental health programs.Operational and Administrative SupportAssist with the daily operations of the school, including scheduling, supervision of arrival/dismissal, and safety procedures.Serve as building administrator in the absence of the Principal.Participate in building-level and district-level leadership meetings and committees.Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation required by the district and NYSED.Staff and Community EngagementCollaborate with families and community agencies to support student needs.Communicate effectively with stakeholders to promote transparency, trust, and engagement.Support school events, parent engagement initiatives, and community partnerships.Qualifications:Valid New York State School Building Leader (SBL) or School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS) certification.Demonstrated success in instructional leadership, student behavior management, and school operations.Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Deep commitment to culturally responsive practices. Knowledge of NYSED regulations, including APPR, DASA, ESSA, and CR-Part 100.
