Our mission is to empower our community to strive for excellence and embrace the opportunities of our globally connected world.Position: Full time (1.0 FTE) probationary Community Schools FacilitatorStart date: 9/3/2024 (mandatory 3 day orientation on 8/26-8/28/2024) (summer work, as required)The salary is per the Hyde Park Teachers Association contract.Preferred Qualification: BilingualPreferred Experience: 3-5 years of related work experience, including experience in community organizing, education, health or social work, and knowledge of community-based organizationsPreferred Expertise: Must be comfortable with the use of data and presenting data to small and large groupsRequired NYSED Certification: School Social Worker, School Psychologist or School CounselorThe Community Schools Facilitator is responsible for implementing, integrating, aligning, and coordinating the community schools strategy. The Facilitator is responsible for facilitating the process of transforming the schools into full-service community schools. The Facilitator works in partnership with the Principals, school administration, LEA administration, family liaison, and leadership teams to assess the school community needs and assets, facilitates/coordinates student and family support services, and creates a learning environment in partnership with the school administration that supports student achievement and wellness. The Community Schools Facilitator must work to create a high performing Community School partnership wherein students and families are supported, community members are connected, and successful outcomes emerge.Comprehensiveness Guides initial and ongoing Needs and Resource AssessmentEnsures a broad understanding of positive youth development and family-strengthening research-based practices Guides high-quality program development and management Provides updates to the Board of Education, Cabinet, Steering Committee, and Evening District Leadership TeamFacilitates Steering Committee Meetings Collaboration Leads the Community Schools – carries the collective vision, engages and excites others, ensures that programming supports the vision, outlines the general direction of the partnership Represents their Community Based Organization (CBO) competencies, interests, and priorities in the partnership Builds and guides coordinating body of community schools Develop strong partnerships with Principals and other stakeholders Serves on the school leadership teams Coherence Manages programs as the lead for all partnership activities in the school Monitors program quality, logistical issues, timeliness, etc. Develops procedures and policies as needed Manages staff or leads a team of partner staff Manages family and community volunteers Ensures appropriate “fit” and accountability of programming that is: Aligned, in-school and out-of-school Developmentally appropriate skill development Culturally appropriate and responsive to the populations served Commitment Informs all stakeholders of the nature and scope of the partnership Brokers and tend relationships to strengthen the partnership Builds long-term relationships with the community Oversees and/or leads communication and public education about Community Schools Cultivates “champions” among policy and other leaders Works with Principals, coordinating body, and CBO leadership to develop strategic funding plan and implement site-level resource development
