G. W. Hewlett High School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered educator to join our faculty as a full-time dual-certified English Language Arts and Special Education teacher. The successful candidate will provide rigorous and engaging English instruction while supporting the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities in both general education and special education settings. Position starts August 26,2026. Responsibilities Teach secondary English Language Arts courses aligned with New York State Learning Standards. Develop students' reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking skills. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Implement accommodations, modifications, and specially designed instruction as outlined in students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, counselors, and administrators to support student achievement. Monitor student progress and utilize data to inform instructional decisions. Participate in annual reviews, Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings, and other required special education processes. Progress monitor IEP goals and case conference for assigned students. Maintain effective communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and achievement. Foster an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment that promotes academic growth and student success. Qualifications Required: New York State Certification in English Language Arts (Grades 7–12). New York State Certification in Students with Disabilities (Grades 7–12). Strong knowledge of secondary English curriculum, literacy instruction, and assessment practices. Experience developing and implementing IEPs and providing specialized instruction. Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills. Preferred: Experience teaching in integrated co-teaching (ICT), self-contained and/or resource room settings. Familiarity with evidence-based literacy interventions and differentiated instructional practices. Experience using educational technology to enhance learning and accessibility.
