G. W. Hewlett High School is seeking a highly qualified, student-centered educator to join our instructional team as a full-time dual-certified Biology and Special Education teacher. The successful candidate will provide engaging science instruction while supporting the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities in both general and special education settings. Position starts August 26, 2026. Responsibilities Teach Regents-level Biology courses aligned with New York State Learning Standards. Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of diverse learners. Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and accommodations. Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, counselors, and administrators to support student success. Utilize data-driven instructional practices to monitor student progress and inform instruction. Participate in annual reviews, Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings, and other required special education processes. Progress monitor IEP goals and case conference for assigned students. Maintain effective communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress. Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment. Qualifications Required: New York State Certification in Biology (Grades 7–12). New York State Certification in Students with Disabilities (Grades 7–12). Strong knowledge of Regents Biology curriculum and assessment requirements. Experience developing and implementing IEPs and providing specialized instruction. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Preferred: Experience teaching in an integrated co-teaching (ICT) setting or self-contained model. Familiarity with evidence-based instructional and behavioral interventions. Experience utilizing educational technology to enhance instruction and accessibility.
