Position Overview: The Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools is seeking a qualified and dedicated Speech and Language Therapist for a two-month leave replacement position. This role requires certification in Teacher of Speech and Language Disabilities or NYS Speech-Language Pathology License and Certificate of Clinical Competence . The successful candidate will serve students at Ogden Elementary School (0.5 FTE) and Hewlett Elementary School (0.5 FTE) . This is a unique opportunity for an educator committed to inclusive education, academic excellence, and supporting students with diverse learning needs. Key Responsibilities: At both Elementary Schools: Conduct comprehensive speech and language assessments to identify students’ needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs). Provide individualized and group therapy sessions to address speech and language difficulties, tailoring interventions to each student’s specific needs. Develop and implement IEP goals aligned with NYS learning standards. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, session notes, and other relevant documentation. Prepare reports for CSE meetings and parent conferences. Qualifications: Required Certifications: New York State Certification in Speech and Language Disabilities New York State Certification in Speech-Language Pathology License and Certificate of Clinical Competence Preferred Experience: Experience working with students with IEPs for speech and language Knowledge IEP progress monitoring and participation in CSE meetings Strong diagnostic assessment skills. Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and compliance Strong collaboration and communication skills Work Schedule & Compensation: This is a full-time leave replacement position. Position is split: 0.5 FTE at Ogden Elementary School , 0.5 FTE at Hewlett Elementary School within district jurisdiction. Compensation in accordance with district substitute/leave replacement teacher pay scale.
