Hewlett-Woodmere School District is seeking a 10.5 month School Counselor beginning August 27, 2025. Interested candidates must have NYS certification.The job description is as follows:The high school counseling program provides students with activities to support their overall well-being, academic success, and career preparation. Activities may include individual counseling sessions to address personal and academic concerns, and college/career guidance to assist students and families through the application process. The program provides equitable support to meet the individual needs of all students including students with special education services and English language learners. The goal is to empower students to make informed decisions, develop essential life skills, and successfully transition to life after high school and beyond.Counsel students during times of transition, heightened stress, critical change or other situations impending student success. Act as an advocate and resource for students and families.Be readily available for crisis intervention.Work closely with social workers and school psychologists to provide comprehensive guidance that will lead to increased personal growth, self-understanding and maturity. Guide students in their participation in school clubs, organizations and community activities.Maintain student records while tracking graduation requirements.Supervise the preparation and processing of college applications.Guide students and families during the college admissions process.Participate on the Instructional Support Team, Committee of Special Education and 504 Planning meetings.Consult with parents, teachers, and administration regarding student’s progress and apply interventions and resources when needed. Document all interventions.Assist students with academic planning and course scheduling.Maintain student transcripts to ensure accuracy of graduation requirements.Participate in all orientation programs.
