Job Title: World Language Teacher: Spanish Location:HHS .4/WMS .4Duration: Full year Start Date: Immediately End Date: June 30, 2026Position Overview:The Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools is seeking a qualified and dedicated Spanish Teacher for Spanish Level 1 and Level 2. This role requires a teaching certification in Foreign Languages: Spanish (Grades 7–12). The successful candidate will serve students both at George W. Hewlett High School (0.4 FTE) and Woodmere Middle School (0.4 FTE).Key Responsibilities:At George W. Hewlett High School (0.4 FTE):Develop and deliver lessons for Spanish Level 2 students Incorporate NYS World Language Standards as well as the ACTFL Proficiency guidelines into daily instruction and long-term planningFoster communication through the three modes: Interpersonal, Interpretive, PresentationalIntegrate culture, history, geography and traditions of Spanish-speaking communities to promote global awarenessCollaborate with colleagues to enhance World Language programming and contribute to a positive school communityMaintain ongoing communication with families regarding student progress and achievementsWoodmere Middle School (0.4 FTE):In addition to the responsibilities listed above:Prepare students for and administer the FLACS Checkpoint A Exams to measure proficiencyQualifications:Required Certifications:New York State Certification in Foreign Languages (Spanish) 7–12Preferred Experience:Experience teaching students at the entry and intermediate levels of the Spanish languageKnowledge of NYS World Language StandardsStrong collaboration and communication skillsWork Schedule & Compensation:This is a 0.8 FTE position.Position is split: 0.4 FTE at G.W.
