Hewlett High School has an anticipated full time Physical Education vacancy for the 2024-25 school year. The anticipated start date is August 29, 2024.The Physical Education teacher will provide an active learning environment where all students can excel academically, physically, and socially. PRIMARY DUTIES: Establish a culture of high expectations that includes the shared belief that every student can work hard, and excel academically, physically and socially.Develop and implement lesson plans and class activities for Physical Education classes aligned with New York State Learning StandardsAssess students regularly and analyze student results; refine and differentiate classroom instruction based on assessment data and student needs.Collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional practices throughout the school; share best practice.Manage student behavior to ensure every student is fully engaged.Actively participate in professional development activities.Maintain accurate student records.Perform other related duties as required and assigned. Be actively engaged in the school community.REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Excellent classroom management skills.Effective interpersonal communication skills with colleagues, parents, students and administrators.Knowledge of subject matter.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Appropriate NYS Certification required.Dual certification in Health a plus.NYS and/or Nassau County Lifeguard Certification a plus.Water Safety Instructor a plus.Coaching experience preferred.
