Hewlett-Woodmere Middle School is seeking a full time Teaching Assistant to work in the Outdoor Environmental Center. Interested candidates must have NYS certification. The job description/responsibilities are as follows:Assist the lead teacher of the Woodmere Middle School’s Outdoor Environmental Center (OEC) with the development and implementation of lesson plans, activities, and experiences centered on the environment (biomes, ecosystems, etc.) Supervise students and provide learning support and guidance. Must have strong communication skills and be able to develop meaningful relationships with students and staff. Assist with teaching about hydroponics, aquaponics, vermicompost, plants, and experimental design. Oversee the day to day operations of the OEC which includes but not limited to: ordering needed materials, maintaining the various systems, taking care of the various plants. This position does not require extensive knowledge of plants, but it does require for you to be a creative learner who enjoys working with students.
