Huntington UFSD has a Dean (Student Support Advisor) position available at Jack Abrams Intermediate School. Applicants must possess either an attendance or social worker certification. Student Behavior & Discipline: Support a consistent, age-appropriate approach to student behavior and discipline, emphasizing accountability, restorative practices, and positive decision-making. Student Support & Relationship Building: Develop strong relationships with students and serve as a trusted adult who helps students navigate academic, behavioral, social, and emotional challenges. Attendance & Engagement: Monitor student attendance, tardiness, and patterns of disengagement, working proactively with students, families, and staff to address concerns. School Climate & Culture: Help foster a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and respectful school environment that promotes a strong sense of belonging for all students. Family Communication: Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding behavioral, attendance, and student support concerns while maintaining a collaborative, solution-focused approach. Teacher & Administrative Support: Partner with teachers, counselors, support staff, and administrators to develop interventions and strategies for students requiring additional behavioral or social-emotional support. Transition Support: Recognize the unique developmental needs of students in Grades 4–6 and assist students as they transition from the elementary setting toward increased independence and responsibility. Supervision & Safety: Maintain a visible presence throughout the school, including during arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, transitions, and other high-traffic periods, to support student safety and positive behavior. Data & Intervention: Use discipline, attendance, and other student data to identify trends, monitor interventions, and develop proactive supports for individual students and the broader school community. Extracurricular & School Involvement: Be an active and visible member of the Jack Abrams community by supporting school activities, student programs, special events, and opportunities that strengthen student connections to school.
