Good knowledge of personal computers, computer applications, LANs/WANs and data communications including networks protocols, line conditioning, modem devices, and multiplexing; ability to work well with others, in a team environment, and independently; skill in developing and maintaining effective interpersonal and customer relations; ability to understand and follow detailed oral and written instructions; ability to apply knowledge of computer technology and telecommunications to solve problems and enhance operating systems; sound oral and written communication skills, a high degree of logical reasoning and resourcefulness; sound judgment; tact; patience; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves coordinating the operations and all aspects of a computer-networked environment. The incumbent is responsible for all phases of development, installation, operation, maintenance, and administration of hardware and software in a telecommunications/networked environment. Customer support and training may also be required. Work is performed under the broad supervision of the department supervisor. Does related work as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either: (A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two (2) year college with an Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or (B) Completion of sixty (60) college credit hours, fifteen (15) of which shall have been in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or (C) Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and completion of a one (1) year business certificate program that includes computer coursework and either 1) 30 college credits or 2) one (1) year of experience working in a business setting requiring the use of personal computers and multiple software or (D) Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and two (2) years experience in installation and support of personal computers, computer applications, LANS/WANS and/or data communications; or (E) A satisfactory equivalent combination of training and experience. *NOTE: The BOCES Computer Network Technology (Career & Technical Education) program and other programs from other states similar to the BOCES Computer Network Technology (Career & Technical Education) program have been deemed equivalent to the one year business certificate program that includes computer coursework. Salary Range - $42,000 - $55,000 - Commensurate with skills and experience.
