TITLE: Director of Instruction QUALIFICATIONS: School District Leader Certificate, Experience in teaching and school administration REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent JOB GOAL: To assist the Assistant Superintendent, substantially and effectively, in the task of providing leadership in instruction and assessment for districtwide curricula. RESPONSIBILITIES:Conducts analysis and evaluations of instructional delivery, programs, and materials in conjunction with the Director of Curriculum & Professional Learning, Director of Student Services, and building administrators, ensuring implementation of the district’s curriculum.Along with building principals, coordinate supports to facilitate effective use of research-based instructional practices, including effective student engagement and classroom management.Plan, develop, implement, and review the District’s Response to Intervention (RTI) and Academic Intervention Services (AIS) Plan, including the Classroom Intervention Model (CIM).Coordinates the administration of New York State and district PK-12 assessments:Oversees the district’s benchmark, screening, formative, and summative testing programs, including data meetings with principals.In conjunction with the Chief Information Officer, disseminate data derived from all the district’s testing programs.Serves as liaison to the State Education Department and BOCES regarding testing requirements and administration.Coordinates and/or conducts training of staff on assessments to ensure standardization of test administration protocols.Analyzes and interprets test data at the district, local, and state levels.Develops and initiates a transmittal method to building administrators regarding test results and the reporting of these results.Collect, analyze, and present data pertaining to the NYS and district assessments.Oversees and communicates the process for the consolidation of elementary buildings, ensuring alignment to district vision and mission, and the ongoing consistency of practice, scheduling, staffing, student experience, and learning. Coordinate, develop, and oversee the pre-Kindergarten program and associated grants.With building administration, plan and implement appropriate student transitions between buildings (i.e., grade 4 to grade 5, grade 6 to grade 7, and grade 8 to grade 9).Assists the Assistant Superintendent in the Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) process for the district. Observes and/or evaluate teachers in their classrooms as part of APPR, or upon the request of building administrators to assist in enhancing learning.Assists the Assistant Superintendent in job relevant non-public school requirements (e.g., substantial equivalency).Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
