School PsychologistPosition OverviewHerricks Public Schools is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled School Psychologist to support the academic, social, and emotional development of our students. This role is central to our mission of promoting intellectual curiosity and personal development. As a key member of our Pupil Services team, you will help students master the 6Cs—Collaboration, Communication, Confidence, Compassion, Creative Innovation, and Critical Thinking—ensuring they are prepared for life beyond school.Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Support & Specialized ProgrammingDirect Student Support: Provide mandated IEP counseling and short-term school-based counseling to promote social-emotional wellness and academic success.Specialized Program Leadership: Provide intensive support for the district’s three Special Classes (NYSAA), including developing Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) and conducting Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs).Behavioral Consultation: Consult on the management of challenging behaviors and collaborate with staff on student needs related to self-care and toileting.Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support during behavioral crises while fostering a proactive school-wide climate of safety and mental health.CSE Leadership & AssessmentCSE Chairperson: Serve as a Chairperson for Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings.Comprehensive Evaluations: Coordinate and conduct psychological evaluations and re-evaluations to determine eligibility and inform instructional programming.Data-Based Decision Making: Integrate NASP and NYSED standards to ensure all evaluations and interventions are data-driven and compliant.Consultation & System AlignmentMTSS & Collaboration: Partner with teachers, parents, and administrators to implement Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and inclusive practices.Stakeholder Engagement: Meaningfully engage with families to build understanding and support for our Vision of a LearnerMentorship: Serve as a supportive and inspiring role model of the 6Cs for our students.QualificationsCertification: Valid New York State Certification as a School Psychologist.Experience: Demonstrated expertise in conducting psychological assessments, chairing CSE meetings, and evidence-based counseling.Technical Skills: Proficiency in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or positive behavioral supports, specifically for students with significant cognitive or developmental disabilities.Requirements: Exceptional organizational skills.
