The successful candidate will join a highly motivated team in one of the most linguistically and culturally diverse high achieving district in Nassau County. We seek an outstanding collaborator with experience working with students / English Language Learners (ELLs), parents and school staff. The successful candidate must possess high levels of proficiency in Mandarin Chinese. SPECIFIC SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:Experience with the initial ELL screening process that includes the administration of the NYSITELL and the yearly administration of the NYSESLAT;Possess strong pedagogy and ability to promote rigor, while providing differentiated instruction and scaffolds to support ELLs in reaching their content and language goals;Experience and understanding of integrated co-teaching models;Analyze data and use it to inform and drive instruction for ELLs;Ability to work with all stakeholders to ensure that ELLs are supported in all areas;Advocate for our ELLs, for not only their academic needs, but for their social and emotional needs as well;Appropriate and professional communication with parents to promote generalization of learned skills and behavior.
