Job Summary:We are seeking a dynamic and experienced district leader with a passion for language acquisition and cultural understanding to serve as our Director of World Languages, Language Immersion, and ENL. This individual will play a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing our K-12 world language programs, dual language immersion program, and ENL services. The successful candidate will be a collaborative district leader with a deep understanding of best practices in language instruction and a commitment to equity and excellence for all learners.Responsibilities:World Languages (6-12):Work closely with world language teachers (grades 6-12) to foster a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement.Share best practices in language instruction, assessment, and curriculum development to ensure program alignment that is consistent with the district Strategic Plan and high-quality learning experiences that promote the competencies of our Portrait of a Graduate.Support teachers in implementing innovative teaching methodologies and incorporating technology effectively.Monitor student progress and program effectiveness, using data to inform decision-making and program adjustments.ENL (K-12):Provide leadership and oversight for the K-12 ENL program, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.Collaborate with building administrators and ENL teachers to implement effective identification, assessment, and support services for English Language Learners.Work closely with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) to collect and analyze data for state reporting purposes, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.Stay abreast of current research and best practices in ENL instruction and support teachers in implementing effective strategies.Dual Language Immersion Program (K-12):Collaborate with administrators, teachers, parents, and community members to ensure the continued success of the K-12 Dual Language Immersion program.Monitor program implementation and evaluate its effectiveness in promoting bilingualism, biliteracy, and cross-cultural understanding.Advocate for the program and communicate its benefits to stakeholders.Support the recruitment and retention of qualified dual language immersion teachers.Professional Growth and Collaboration:Participate actively in professional organizations related to world languages, language immersion, and ENL.Stay informed about current research, trends, and best practices in the field.Share expertise and best practices with colleagues within the district and at professional conferences.Qualifications:Master's degree in World Languages, Linguistics, Education, or a related field.Valid New York State teaching certification in World Languages and/or ESL.New York State School District Administrator (SDA) certification. Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience in World Languages and/or ENL.Demonstrated leadership experience in curriculum development, program evaluation, and teacher supervision.Strong understanding of second language acquisition theories and best practices in language instruction.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Commitment to equity and excellence in education for all students.
