Harborfields Central School District is seeking a caring, collaborative, and dedicated Special Education Teaching Assistant to join the team at Thomas J. Lahey Elementary School. The successful candidate will work closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to support students with diverse learning needs and help create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provide instructional and behavioral support to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Support students individually and in small groups Assist teachers with the implementation of instructional activities, accommodations, and modifications Promote student independence, confidence, and successful participation in the school community Support classroom routines, transitions, and positive behavior strategies Collaborate effectively with teachers, related service providers, administrators, and other members of the educational team Maintain student confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times Qualifications Valid New York State Teaching Assistant or classroom teacher certification is required Experience working with students with disabilities preferred Strong interpersonal and communication skills Patience, flexibility, reliability, and a student-centered approach Commitment to supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students We are seeking an individual who believes in the potential of every child and who will contribute positively to our supportive and collaborative school community.
