The Harborfields Central School District is seeking a dedicated, student-centered, and collaborative educator for a 0.7 FTE High School Social Studies teaching position combined with a 0.3 FTE Permanent Substitute assignment at Harborfields High School. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong content knowledge in Social Studies, effective instructional practices, and the ability to engage high school students in meaningful learning experiences. The candidate should be prepared to support students through thoughtful lesson design, classroom discussion, critical thinking activities, and the development of historical analysis, civic understanding, and literacy skills. In addition to the Social Studies teaching assignment, the successful candidate will serve as a 0.3 FTE Permanent Substitute, providing instructional coverage and support as needed within the building. Qualifications: New York State Social Studies 7–12 certification required Experience teaching high school Social Studies preferred Strong knowledge of New York State Social Studies standards and curriculum expectations Ability to create engaging, student-centered lessons that promote critical thinking, discussion, historical analysis, civic understanding, and written expression Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, students, and families Flexibility and professionalism in supporting building needs through the permanent substitute component of the position Commitment to creating a supportive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
