Harborfields Central School District is seeking a caring, dependable, and student-centered Special Education Paraprofessional to support students at Washington Drive Primary School. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with classroom teachers, special education teachers, related service providers, and building administrators to support students with disabilities in a nurturing primary school environment. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Supporting students with disabilities in classroom and school settings Assisting students with instructional activities, classroom routines, and transitions Providing individual or small-group support under the direction of certified staff Helping students remain engaged, organized, and on task Reinforcing teacher-directed instruction and classroom expectations Supporting student social, emotional, behavioral, and academic needs Assisting with accommodations and student-specific supports Promoting student independence, confidence, and participation Helping maintain a positive, inclusive, and caring learning environment Collaborating professionally with teachers, related service providers, and school staff Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required Experience working with young children preferred Experience supporting students with disabilities preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Patience, flexibility, reliability, and professionalism Ability to follow teacher direction and work as part of a collaborative team Fingerprint clearance through the New York State Education Department required Preferred Characteristics: A warm, student-centered approach Ability to build positive relationships with young learners Commitment to inclusion, dignity, and student growth Willingness to support students with a range of academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs Interested candidates should apply through OLAS and submit a letter of interest, resume, and any applicable supporting materials.
