ANTICIPATED-DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC RELATIONSHarborfields School District located in Greenlawn New York is seeking a Director of Public Relations. This services nearly 2900 students in grades k-12 for a community that values excellence in education, arts, music, and athletics.Effective Date: August 2024Minimum Qualifications: A) Graduation from a college with federally authorized accreditation or registration by NY State with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Advertising or Liberal Arts and six (6) years of experience in newspaper, magazine, marketing, managerial sales or public relations work which regularly involved writing or editing responsibilities; orB) Graduation from a standard senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, and ten (10) years of experience in newspaper, magazine, marketing, managerial sales, or public relations work which regularly involved writing or editing responsibilities; or,C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B)Performance responsibilities and skills Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of public relations and advertising; strong knowledge of the programs and services provided by the school district; the ability to plan and direct promotional campaigns; carry out other administrative functions as required; the ability to develop effective approaches to unique problems of school districts; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with leadership team; members of the media; local legislature, parent community and student body; the ability to analyze facts and arrive at sound conclusions; good judgment, persuasiveness and creativity; ability to navigate sensitive issues with discretion during crisis situations. Typical Work Activities Prepares and distributes news items, articles, pamphlets and other publicity materials to the media; writes press releases and submits them to newspapers; evaluates public reaction to district policies; services and activities and activities to the media; attend school district functions and student performances; write district newsletter for school and community members; creative suggestions ideas to enhance website; take pictures, serve as a liaison between school leaders and social media communications Anticipated Salary: $100,000
