2026 - 2027 SCHOOL YEAR VACANCIES Internal Candidates Only POSITIONS: IB INSTRUCTIONAL COACHES LOCATIONS: Rhodes Academy Prospect Joseph McNeil Barack Obama David Paterson Jackson Main ABGS Middle School POSITION PURPOSE: The IB Instructional Coach serves as a teacher leader who supports continuous improvement in teaching and learning through instructional coaching, collaboration, professional learning, and reflective practice. This position is designed to strengthen instructional practice, build teacher capacity, and improve student outcomes through job-embedded professional learning. The coach partners with teachers to deepen implementation of research-based instructional practices and the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework while supporting district priorities outlined in the District Comprehensive Improvement Plan (DCIP). The coach is a non-evaluative instructional partner whose primary role is to support teacher growth and student achievement. RESPONSIBILITIES: Instructional Coaching Facilitate coaching cycles that include goal setting, planning, modeling, observation, reflection, and feedback. Support teachers in designing inquiry-based, student-centered learning experiences and revising Units of Inquiry based on feedback and best practices. Model effective instructional practices aligned to district priorities and IB philosophy. Assist teachers in implementing differentiation to meet the needs of diverse learners. Support the development and integration of Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills and student agency. Collaborative Planning and Professional Learning Facilitate collaborative planning sessions and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). Lead professional learning aligned to district initiatives, school goals, and enhancements of IB implementation. Support teachers in developing authentic assessments and using assessment results to improve instruction. Promote interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning experiences. Data-Informed Improvement Support teachers in analyzing student achievement, assessment, and engagement data. Assist teams in identifying instructional next steps and monitoring student progress. Collaborate with administrators and district leaders to support school improvement goals. IB Program Development Support implementation of the IB Primary Years Program (PYP) or Middle Years Program (MYP). Assist teachers in developing inquiry-based units that promote conceptual understanding and action. Support the integration of the IB Learner Profile and Approaches to Learning across content areas. Collaborate with the District IB Coordinator and building leadership to strengthen program development and continuous improvement. Professional Growth Participate in ongoing professional learning related to instructional coaching, adult learning, curriculum, and IB practices. Collaborate with staff developers and instructional leaders to strengthen coaching practices across the district. Coaches are expected to: Maintain monthly logs documenting coaching activities and impact. Participate in professional learning and district initiatives aligned to instructional priorities. Facilitate professional learning during and beyond the contractual school day as assigned. QUALIFICATION: Valid New York State Teacher Certification COMPENSATION: Service Assignment I (20 hours per month) This position is funded through Title II, Part A – Supporting Effective Instruction, which supports educator effectiveness through professional learning, instructional coaching, and teacher leadership.
