The Highland Falls-Fort Montgomery Central School is seeking a dependable and experienced Long-Term Substitute Groundskeeper to support the maintenance, safety, and appearance of district grounds and exterior facilities. This position plays an important role in ensuring our campuses remain safe, clean, and well-maintained for students, staff, and community members. Primary Responsibilities Maintain school grounds, athletic fields, and exterior facilities Perform lawn care, mowing, trimming, edging, and seasonal planting Snow and ice removal, including plowing, shoveling, and salting Assist with preparation and clean-up for school events Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment safely Support minor exterior repairs as needed Ensure sidewalks, entrances, and parking areas remain safe and accessible Assist Buildings and Grounds team with additional operational needs Does other related work as assigned Minimum Qualifications One (1) year of experience in the maintenance or cleaning of buildings and/or grounds Ability to operate lawn mowers, snow removal equipment, and hand tools Knowledge of safe equipment handling procedures Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical labor in varying weather conditions Reliable transportation Valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a school district or municipal setting Experience with athletic field maintenance Knowledge of snow plow operation Skills and Attributes Strong work ethic Dependable and punctual Ability to work independently and as part of a team Commitment to maintaining a safe environment for students and staff NYSED fingerprint clearance is required.
