The District is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and student-centered individual to serve as the Modified Softball Head Coach at James I. O'Neill High School. The Modified program plays a vital role in developing fundamental skills, sportsmanship, teamwork, and a love for the game while preparing student-athletes for future participation at the JV and Varsity levels.Responsibilities:Coordinate and organize all activities in accordance to the views of the District, Program, and Varsity Head CoachPlan, organize, and supervise all modified softball practices and contestsTeach fundamental softball skills, game strategy, and situational awarenessEmphasize sportsmanship, teamwork, accountability, and character developmentEnsure the safety and well-being of all student-athletesMaintain and inventory equipment and uniformsCommunicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, administration, and the athletic departmentFollow all NYSPHSAA, Section IX and District policies and regulationsCoordinate with JV and Varsity coaching staff to align program development.Qualifications:Previous coaching and/or playing experience in softball, preferredKnowledge of skill development and age-appropriate coaching strategiesAbility to motivate and positively engage middle-level student athletesStrong communication and organizational skillsNYS Coaching certification (or willingness to obtain)CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)Completion of all required NYSED coaching courseworkNYSED fingerprint clearance is required.Please submit a cover letter and resume for consideration.
