The Highland Falls-Fort Montgomery Central School District is seeking qualified candidates for the anticipated position of Dean of Students at Highland Falls Intermediate School.Preferred Qualifications:Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience at the elementary and/or secondary level, demonstrating the ability to build positive relationships and effectively support students’ academic and social-emotional development.Comprehensive understanding and application of the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA), emphasizing a fair, equitable, and restorative approach to student discipline and behavior management.Proficiency in student management systems such as School Tool, with strong skills in analyzing student data to inform decision-making and enhance student outcomes.Demonstrated ability to engage effectively and collaboratively with staff, parents, community members, and other stakeholders to maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment.Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills, capable of managing student conduct, attendance, and intervention programs efficiently.Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to mediate conflicts, clearly communicate expectations and guidance to students and families, and collaborate closely with faculty and administration to uphold the school’s mission.Valid NYS Elementary certification.Valid NYS Administrative certification (SAS, SDA, or SBL.)Bilingual candidates fluent in Spanish are strongly encouraged to apply.Professional Responsibilities:Collaborate closely with the Principal to ensure consistent, fair, and effective enforcement of school policies, contributing to a positive and respectful school climate.Conduct thorough investigations into student behavioral incidents, maintain accurate documentation, and implement interventions and disciplinary actions aligned with the District Code of Conduct and DASA.Chair the MTSS Committee and have regular meetings with the committee in regards to student academic and behavioral needs. Support with managing student attendance with the Main Office, monitor attendance patterns, prepare parent notifications, conduct intervention meetings with support staff, and develop strategies to address chronic absenteeism and tardiness.Work closely with building the administrator, security personnel, faculty, staff and administration to proactively maintain a safe, orderly, and inclusive school environment, employing strategies that promote student well-being and effective conflict resolution.Foster meaningful partnerships with families, faculty, and community members to address student concerns, enhance communication, and strengthen support systems essential for student achievement.Co-coordinate with building administrator to support student activities, events, and leadership programs to encourage student engagement, promote school spirit, and cultivate a strong sense of community and belonging among students.Provide additional support to the building as deemed appropriate by the building administrator.Interested candidates are encouraged to submit a cover letter and resume for consideration.
