Helping Hands School is seeking a Special Education Teacher to lead a preschool special education classroom. We are a dynamic special education preschool program located in Clifton Park, New York that is committed to excellence in the education and treatment of young children with special needs. We pride ourselves on the exceptional quality of our staff members and their commitment to the children in their care.Position Summary: The special education teacher incorporates into daily instruction using an educational curriculum based on the New York State standards to meet the unique IEP needs of students. The teacher serves as the leader of a multidisciplinary team and creates and maintains an educational atmosphere that facilitates professional collaboration and encourages student learning. Responsibilities Include • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning activities designed to achieve goals and objectives in compliance with IEP mandates (ex: frequency, duration)• Modify teaching techniques and provide supports to address the individual needs of each student• Demonstrate compliance with each student’s IEP mandates with relation to instructional materials, classroom environment and instructional approach• Utilize positive behavioral supports effectively to meet each student’s needs.• Complete a comprehensive assessment of each student’s academic readiness and social skills • Communicate assessment results professionally, accurately and clearly through comprehensive written reports and during parent conferences• Develop partnerships with parents by providing information about their child’s school experiences and respond to parent concerns in a supportive and unbiased mannerJob Requirements:Special Education Teacher Certificate orStudents With Disabilities (Birth-Grade 2) CertificateBenefitsHealth, Dental, Vision InsuranceRetirement Plan403BAFLACSchool calendar with option for summer offProfessional Development stipendPositive and supportive work environmentand more....
