DISTRICT JOB TITLE: Alternative Learning Environment (ALE) TeacherQUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:Teacher certification, any; Special Education preferredAbility to manage flexible groups and content areasGENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The ALE Teacher position is the lead teacher for students who have either been suspended short-term, suspended long-term, or are awaiting out-of-district placements. The ultimate goal is to maintain or improve the students’ academic standing in anticipation of their return to the regular school setting. This teacher needs to be flexible within the day and week with the varying population of students. The Suspension Teacher will oversee a TA and work at the direction of the building administrators.EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:Operate within the flexible schedule assigned by the building administratorOversee the academics of students to maintain or improve their academic standing Maintain a daily student tracker including daily attendanceInitiate and maintain contact with classroom teachers for students placedImplement the general structure of the instructional plan as assigned by the building administratorContact parents regarding students who are absentCoordinate with the cafeteria for breakfast/lunch or lunch/pm snackCoordinate with Transportation for any in-the-moment needsParticipate in regular meetings as required to monitor the success and needs of the programTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The ALE Teacher will be employed on a ten (10) month basis. Salary and benefits are determined by the HFTA contract and in cofenrence with the Superintendent of Schools.SALARY: Salary is based on the HFTA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Step1 ($46,474) Step 2 ($81,586)EVALUATIONThe performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent of Schools in accordance with the provisions of the Board of Education Policy on Evaluation of Personnel and the HFTA contract.
