Here is your opportunity to share with students your knowledge about the healthcare career field! HFM Career and Technical Education (CTE) is looking for a full-time, 10-month Medical Assisting Teacher who is responsible for providing classroom, lecture, and practical experience for students in the Medical Assisting Program. The position start date is on or around November 1st, 2023. The Medical Assisting Program helps teach students how to perform administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the effective office operations of doctors, hospitals, clinics and other health care providers. The goal of this program is to enable students to develop a specialized body of knowledge and skills which prepare them to work in the emerging health care field. The program partners with St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, NY to provide hands-on experiences for students in a real-life setting. Many students from this program go on to pursue post-secondary education in the medical field and work in our community. Job Qualifications New York State Teacher Certification in one or more of the following: Medical Assisting (7-12) Nurse's Assisting (7-12) Practical Nursing (7-12)Applicant must hold a valid NYS Registered Nurse LicenseOR: If potential applicants do not hold current NYS Teaching Certification, the successful applicant may be eligible for the NYS Transitional Teaching Certificate upon review of 2 or more years in the related field and HFM BOCES recommendation. Formal job offer/selection is contingent on ability to obtain a fingerprint supported criminal history background check through the TEACH system prior to working.
