The Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery BOCES is seeking applicants for a part-time, 0.60 FTE, 10-month, English as a New Language (ENL) Teacher. QualificationsNew York State "English to Speakers of Other Languages" or other related certification/extension is required. Candidates with a NYS teaching certificate who are willing to work toward ENL certification are encouraged to apply. To address the critical issue of the shortage of qualified staff, the New York State Education Department (NYSED) has developed a number of programs to recruit, evaluate, and develop Bilingual and ENL teachers throughout the state, including the Clinically Rich Intensive Teacher Institute which provides tuition assistance for Bilingual and ENL courses that lead to a teaching license. The Department has also made available Supplemental Certification Pathways for New York State Certified English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Teachers to obtain Content Area certification and for Content Area teachers to obtain TESOL certification. Formal job offer/selection is contingent on ability to obtain a fingerprint supported criminal history background check through the TEACH system prior to working.
