ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT FOR CURRICULUM, INSTRUCTION & ASSESSMENT12 Month Position 3 or 4 Year Probationary Appointment GENERAL DUTIES This is a district-level position with administrative responsibility for the following areas: 1) curriculum, instruction, and assessment; 2) teacher professional development; 3) testing coordination and data management. In addition, administrative responsibilities include assisting in the development of annual goals and long-range planning, supervision of general education instructional faculty and staff, and management of district-level budgets, grants and reports.QUALIFICATIONS Masters degree or Doctorate New York State Teaching Certificate New York State Administrative Certificate (One of the following): New York State School District Administrative Certificate (SDA); OR New York State School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS); OR School District Leader (SDL) Prior experience as an administrator 3-5 years teaching experience Demonstrated success in improving student performance Strong track record in staff development and technology integration SUPERVISES Department and Grade Level LeadersInstructional CoachesGeneral education certificated instructional staffAssists with supervision of administrative leadership teamREPORTS TO Superintendent of Schools RESPONSIBILITIES Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment: Has primary responsibility for guiding the instructional program K-12 Coordinates effort of all curriculum development committees Supervision of ENL, World Languages, Arts, and MusicResponsible for the coordination of instructional schedules K-12Reviews and recommends instructional staffing needs K-12Responsible for all educational programming, instructional priorities and curriculum development Plans and introduces standards-aligned program initiatives in keeping with the district's strategic plan Assists with implementation of Social-Emotional Learning efforts (shared with Executive Director for PPS)Collaborates with Assistant Superintendent for HR & Leadership in organizing New Faculty Orientation and the Mentor Teacher programDistrict Sexual Harassment, Title IX, and Civil Rights Officer (shared with Assistant Superintendent for HR & Leadership)Assists with the implementation of Cultural Competence effortsConducts task forces as per the district's strategic plan Observes and evaluates teacher performance Works with building principals and teachers to forward instructional programs Establishes and supports vertical teams and grade transitions District Curriculum Committee ChairCoordinates annual update and publication of pacing calendars and course guides Leads MTSS process districtwide (in partnership with Executive Director for PPS)Establishes academic intervention plans in concert with building administration Allocates and coordinates District Intervention staff as neededPrepares CR Part 154 and Federal Title Grants (Title I, II, III, IV) and end of year reports Writes additional grants as applicable to district program Prepares public presentations on district initiatives, school performance and budget Interprets the district's instructional program and policies to parents and the community; recommend revisions to policies Oversees warehousing and use of instructional dataConducts studies and completes research required as a basis for curriculum management and change Attend and present at School Board and Policy Committee meetings Provide presentations to Board and community on instructional program and student performanceInterpret and communicate instructional program to school community Supervise Kindergarten registration Homeschool CoordinationCollaborates with the Director of Technology & Innovation to supervise Library/Media K-12Instructional textbook, digital learning tools, material / supplies budget coordinationLiaison with UPreK programSupervision of ENL, World Languages, Arts, and MusicResponsible for the coordination of instructional schedules K-12Reviews and recommends instructional staffing needs K-12Collaborates with the Executive Director for Technology and Innovation in supporting 21st century learning effortsResponsible for organizing the student assessment calendarCollaborates with the Assistant Superintendent for HR & Leadership in implementing teacher and principal APPR plansCoordinates student teachers, observers, and internsCollaborates with Superintendent’s Cabinet in the adjudication of grievances with collective bargaining unitsProfessional Development: Responsible for district-wide professional development program and budget Organizes Superintendent's Conference Days and early release days (in partnership with Superintendent’s Cabinet colleagues)Designs and manages parent workshopsCollaborates with Superintendent’s Cabinet colleagues to organizes workshops for administrators and school-related personnelDevelops program of in-service credit courses Establishes protocols for approval of conferences and workshops Teachers Center and regional Curriculum Council liaisonTesting Coordination and Data Management: Responsible for district-wide state assessment testing, scorer training and data management (including but not limited to NYS assessments, AP, iReady, AimsWeb, F&P, NAEP, Branching Minds, LinkIt)Supervise the review and correction of NYSED Testing reports Coordinate with BOCES for Data Warehouse and Regents scoring services Work with building principals to establish district-wide testing schedule Research, recommend and implement software for data management solutions Student Information System oversightSupport the Director of Technology & Innovation work with the LHRICDistrict registrationMaintain and track student enrollment Other Responsibilities:Education Foundation liaisonAttend all Board of Education meetings, prepares weekly updates, and present reports as called uponAssignment of teachers, based on district needs, in consultation with the Assistant Superintendent for HR and LeadershipCollaborates with the Assistant Superintendent for HR and Leadership in reviewing probationary faculty and leave replacementsPerforms other responsibilities assigned by the Superintendent of SchoolsPlease address letter of interest to Mr. Michael A.
