23-24 School Year - Probationary PositionMusic Teacher - Choral Experience PreferredRESPONSIBILITIES: Plan and deliver General Music (shared with other Music teachers) and Choral instruction to elementary students in grades four and five aligned with National and State Core Arts Standards in MusicConduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit students with diverse needs (ENL, IEP, 504, etc.)Communicate with families regarding student progress, performances, and music events.Establish professional relationships with colleagues at the building and district level.Work collaboratively with the music department to support the vertical alignment of the music program.Knowledge of the Google Suite and related technologies to support instruction.Maintain a classroom environment that supports student learning and growth.Participation in local, state, and national professional music organizations (WCSMA, NYSSMA, ACDA, NAFME, etc) POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of the New York State Music Standards.Successful music teaching experience at the elementary level. Excellent vocal skills. The candidate must have pedagogical vocal knowledge and choral conducting experience.Excellent piano skills. The candidate must be able to accompany a choral ensemble. Ability to teach a variety of pedagogies and skills within General Music (Ukulele, drumming, Kodaly/Orff/Solfege, etc)Knowledge of Social Emotional Learning techniques and pedagogical application. Ability to engage in self-reflection with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunitiesPossession of appropriate New York State Teacher Certification
